IC 405 : Flaming Star Nebula in Auriga


The Flaming star nebula, IC 405, surrounds the star AE Aurigae. This is the star in the purplish area of the image and is noteworthy because its a runaway, believe to have been ejected from the Orion nebula. It is flying through this area of gas and dust creating the wonderful display of colors.
